This seems somewhat intentionally coordinated, so that the squeeze everyone into submission.

They were independent then they weren’t. I don’t recall any deeply controversial scandal beyond that. But the content and vibe was never the same after they “sold out”. They are a shell of their former self… they used to be “the thing”. Now they’re just something some people know about.
Now this is the real nerd cred here lol. Yea. Same. We’re old now. Has its benefits and disadvantages.
oof. Kinda dark and morbid. But I get it.
I’m curious for those of you who have done this: Have you archived anything?
It’s hard to part with a 14 year old account and so much history. I know there are sites that archive reddit and of course archive.org. But nothing is a sure thing unless you are the custodian. It’s such a huge snapshot of my life… Proud of some of it. Not proud of other parts. But that’s the beauty of it.
Also I’ve heard Reddit is reversing anyone who does this anyways… so… yea. Might not go well in the EU, but they probably can get away with it in the US.
DUDE… I don’t even work in the medical field. But I have such a similar experience. I grew up going to private schools and had lots of friends as doctors… so many of them were dumb as rocks outside of their area of expertise… Especially socially. To this day I constantly meet doctors that have no “social” or “street smarts” and are dumb as hell at technology, etc etc etc. I know that becoming a doctor takes a lot of effort, and focus, and specific knowledge… But… There’s a certain intuitiveness that comes with being generally “smart”. And for whatever reason, doctors don’t have that. I don’t think all doctors are “stupid”. But it seems like a profession you send someone who is stupid into, to do well… I really hate saying that but I relate so much to your comment its crazy lol.
