  • That’s the primary reason yes.

We don’t tax corps. We used to. Taxed them 70-95% I can’t remember the actual number.

But that’s what built the industrial powerhouse that won the cold war. Those high taxes could only be written off by reinvesting into the business. Hiring more people. Raising wages. Buying new equipment. Those high tax rates are what made it all work.

Without those you get Gilded ages like what both proceeded and have followed them. Because capitalism eats itself without a strong government hand at the tiller. Protecting it from itself.

  • Anyone else remember when the math came back and universal Healthcare would have saved the US like $11,000,000,000 every year or every 10 years or something.

Anyway, they chose not to do that because Citizens United made bribery legal. They did pass a republican Healthcare plan that didn’t actually change anything. Just made it easier to pick who was gonna fuck you and how hard on a convenient website maintained by GovCo.

  • It will actually.

In its current form the dems are a center-right republican-lite party. They serve the same oligarchs the Rs do.

You see that in the policies they push and support. Or rather, the lack of policies. They don’t do anything constructive that would actually help people unless it’s a PR stunt when they need a little boost. And even then they lash it down with narrow scope and means testing.

They are supposed to be the opposition. As in oppose. But they don’t. They refuse to. And they actively work to keep people who want to work for the good of the people out of positions of influence. If the dems wanted to, they would never lose an election again. But they don’t want to.

Do you know why we have term limits? It’s because the populist policy and social programs instituted by FDR made him so popular he was elected to 3 terms as president. Minimum wage, labor laws, social security, etc.
