Crazy to me that it was filmed in 2010. My experience dumpster diving was as a kid in the 80s in Phoenix and as I mentioned, the stores started locking things up and so it stopped. Or so I thought… it seems in many areas it was and maybe still is occurring. Perhaps locking dumpsters is too much of a hassle for some places. Anyway, thanks for sharing!
They used to dump them in unlocked dumpsters but people figured that out and started pilfering the dumpsters. My dad, not poor at all but quite frugal/cheap, somehow heard about this and started taking me as a kid to go dumpster diving with him. It was crazy the amount of food we brought home for those couple years before places started locking the dumpsters. And there were a lot of people driving up and going through them just like us.
In a properly secure system the rep can’t see the code but must type it in to get to your data. If they can get to it without your secret, they can be tricked into supplying it or may abuse their access themselves.
Same… unique email for each service and the Discord leak a few weeks ago was the most abused one I believe I’ve experienced. So many emails for a huge number of sites claiming I opened support tickets and what-not.

The lunch thing is definitely something I miss, and the white board collaborations. I haven’t found any decent equivalent virtual tool for the latter, and if you’re starting a new job in-person collaboration can be a jump start.
That said I’ve worked remote for a decade and the pros outweigh the cons greatly. A huge perk for me is being able to workout at lunch in my home gym. I’m not a morning person and I’m often so drained by end-of-day that working out after work is a non-starter. I know my physical health would be worse if I had to go into an office because I just wouldn’t end up working out like I do now.
Mass has no direct relationship to calories. A gallon of water has 0 calories. A pound of salt has 0. Some things we eat provide necessary elements of nutrition but no energy/calories. Some things provide calories but have 0 nutritional value, like sugar. Most foods provide a mix of nutritional value and calories.
A number of cities do… it doesn’t change things.
They may not deserve forgiveness but if reaching out to them can get them to admit their mistake, and in doing so we together can rollback some of the insanity of the last decade, it’ll be better for all of us. Based on numbers alone we’re very unlikely to do that without some help from “reformed” Republicans.

I’m using Tuta and didn’t even realize I couldn’t use Thunderbird if I wanted. I don’t currently want to but overlooked the fact it wasn’t an option.
I’m currently most disappointed with their email rules and calendar reminders. Can only create rules to send email to folders or trash - can’t forward or assign labels - and even more bizarre… can’t disable notifications on email your rules are handling. If I send some email to the trash automatically I still get an email notification. And calendar reminders have preset values - various min and hour options - but you can’t customize them. Glad I left Gmail but I miss some of its functionality.
Sheesh… Alaska I might have predicted because of the ratio of men to women there. But what’s up with Arkansas??
To be fair when it’s a product a person didn’t ask for and the OS forced it on them, it’s not unreasonable that they may not understand how it works and make mistakes.
I have to admit I’m confused by the suggestion to right-click and open as an administrator. I don’t see anything like that in Dolphin and wonder where I should be looking for such an option.
In on of the Veracrypt forums someone suggested and scan the disk in Windows because Linux is more sensitive to NTFS issues and that might be the source of the trouble. I tried that and while Windows reported no issues, it kind of helped. Kind of…
When I reboot back into Linux and try to mount the volume I get the following error message:
device-mapper: create ioctl on veracrypt1 failed: Device or resource busy Command failed.
Veracrypt then shows no volume mounted but with Dolphin opened I notice the volume is in fact mounted. A little testing with it showed I can read and write to it. Using Veracrypt to mount my 2nd volume and then running the mount command to see what it shows, I see the following output related to my Veracrypt volumes:

So being pretty new to Linux I don’t know what this is telling me but I see the one volume I’m having issues with has a single line referencing it whereas the 2nd volume that Veracrypted mounted without issue seems to have created four. I assume there’s some kind of clue in here about what’s wrong with the 1st mount and it’s not a good thing, but I have no idea what.
Nope, no message and bitlocker wasn’t ever used… this is a Windows 10 Home edition. Also no swap or hibernate file. The disk nor these volumes were ever a boot drive.
It certainly depends. I’m not sure what qualifies as “most people” now. Plenty of people have higher interest rates on their homes from recent purchases than those who’ve purchased homes 4 or 5 years ago, and if you live in a state with higher income tax you’ll have more to deduct. Also self-employed contractors and non-incorporated small business owners are likely going to itemize. My wife and I itemize but we’re fortunate enough to be in a place where we support a lot of charities so itemization is worth it.
“Required” isn’t the right word but they do record who donates to them because people usually want them to. People donating to non-profits will receive statements from those non-profits at year end so they can deduct the donations from their taxes when filing their return.
People can donate anonymously but if they do so, they give up their right to claim the tax deduction so most do not.
