Thanks for the suggestion. That looks like a pretty cool option.

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•OpenAI says dead teen violated TOS when he used ChatGPT to plan suicideEnglish
71·12 days agoThe problem is that many people don’t understand this no matter how often we bring it up. I personally find LLMs to be very valuable tools when used in the right context. But yeah, the majority of people who utilize these models don’t understand what they are or why they shouldn’t really trust them or take critical advice from them.
I didn’t read this article, but there’s also the fact that some people want biased or incorrect information from the models. They just want them to agree with them. Like, for instance, this teen who killed themself may not have been seeking truthful or helpful information in the first place, but instead just wanted to agree with them and help them plan the best way to die.
Of course, OpenAI probably should have detected this and stopped interacting with this individual.

Hardware@lemmy.world•Google tells employees it must double capacity every 6 months to meet AI demandEnglish
3·16 days agoLast I heard, which I don’t have any sources for so could be completely wrong for all I know, but some of the big LLM providers do make enough money off of their users to pay for inference and infrastructure. And the only reason they aren’t profitable is because of the insane amount of money they spend on developing new models.

1339·18 days agoI get your hate, but there would be significant turmoil in the world if the largest and most advanced GPU provider disappeared. So you’re sorta lying.
Scientific advances would slow and engineering tasks would also suffer from the lack of capability to run simulations. Eventually, AMD and Intel would pick up the slack and the world would start doing well again.

politics @lemmy.world•Megyn Kelly suggests Epstein wasn't an 'actual pedophile' if victims went through puberty
62·25 days agoThe biggest tragedy about everyone on the left using pedophile as a dog whistle is that it actually directly harms children in my opinion. Pedophelia is a mental disorder, and just because someone is a pedophile doesn’t mean they have ever or will ever harm a child or anyone else for that matter.
The problem with everybody using the word pedo and creating such a hateful and negative reaction to that word instead of the more proper term of child sex offender or child rapist, is it directly results in pedophiles who want to get mental health help to ensure they never hurt a child, never will and they will just keep it quiet because their entire life will be destroyed if they try to get professional help.
Of course, everybody is always responsible for their actions, but all of you using the word pedo in such a negative and catch-all way directly results in children being harmed.
You all need to use better terminology, like rapist or child sex abuser, not using a real DSM-5 mental disorder to vilify.
I won’t compare it directly to any other mental disorders because I will get a significant amount of hate, but imagine picking any other DSM-5 disorder and using it as a catch-all to vilify, it would be unpopular.

This is a custom small form factor PC with many of its components being user replaceable. The GPU and CPU are soldered, which is unfortunate, but it is still significantly more upgradable and repairable than any other console that has existed. So what the hell are you on about?
And Valve already has a partnership with iFixit to offer replacement parts for their handheld gaming device, the Steam Deck, and they intended to continue that partnership with their new hardware products.
I think you’re just dumb and don’t know what you’re talking about.

I did 500ug once and had a very unpleasant experience, although some skilled psychonauts take 1 or even 2 milligram (2000ug) and enjoy the experience.
