Lemmy has an “official” app. It’s called Jeroba and it’s made by the same devs.

116·vor 2 MonatenIf we have the will to fight this every 5 minutes, we should have the will to make it so we don’t keep having to. Winning the same battle over and over isn’t victory; it’s just giving the enemy more time and opportunity to define the terms of your defeat.
This is getting comically ridiculous and I’m tired, but I suppose that’s the point.

Technology@lemmy.zip•‘Death to Spotify’: the DIY movement to get artists and fans to quit the music appEnglish
281·vor 3 MonatenAs a hoarder, I spend more time listening to new music than not, and Spotify’ features and personalized discovery algorithms help tremendously with that.
These days more and more AI songs are creeping into my Spotify and I notice them. That has caused me to be suspicious of every song I hear enough that even when I find a good real song, the enjoyment is undercut by that constant underlying feeling of “this could be AI” even though I know it isn’t.
I’m absolutely livid and disgusted at Spotify for making me feel that way. Discovery was the one thing keeping me on that wretched platform. I imagine I’ll be slowly migrating to a self-hosted solution. I just really wish foss had more private and open personalized discovery features (or any at all for that matter, and not just for music).

112·vor 3 MonatenI’m losing my mind. Ring cameras everywhere, Flock cameras, ID/face verification, everything Google touches, airports, Tesla car cameras, every modern car actually, Meta glasses, Chat Control every year, the OSA, stores using facial recognition (and other tracking), social media billionaire shenanigans, Samsung installing Israeli spyware and putting ads on the fridges, fuck even the Windows 11+Chrome+iPhone combo I see in public. I could keep going. We could all keep going.
It’s too much. Idk anymore. This post broke me a little.
Greta is on the front lines bringing attention to critical issues which we collectively seem to ignore, regardless of how many times she’s been hauled off by cops or kidnapped by a genocidal state.

The idea that you’re somehow not entitled to privacy based on the publicity of a space has got to be one of the most successful propaganda campaigns used to strip privacy against the will of people.
Fuck you, I want to take a walk and generally travel freely without being tracked by some fucking “Flock” or Ring camera, or uploaded unblurred to some randos Instagram where Meta and Clearview will train facial recognition and generative AI, or having my entire life story and biometric data collected at some airport.
Take me back to the thousands of years humanity existed without obscenely invasive tech.
