It’s the Blended Retirement System and it is a blend of a pension and an employer-sponsored retirement account. In the BRS service members went from 2.5% per year of service to 2% and gained a 5% match to their Thrift Savings Plan. So a member retiring at 20 years in the BRS would receive 40% of their base pay as pension vs 50% under the traditional military retirement system.

I’m a proud new dad as of last week and I’m also proud to say that she gets to know sober dad. My motivation is still internal but she’s given me another awesome reason to be the best version of myself. Day 629, IWNDWYT.

One strategy that worked with my spouse since it was also new for them is to temporarily shift into reverse before shifting into park. The back up camera let’s them visually confirm that they have made it far enough into the garage. You can even place tape down for them to indicate off of.

I back my vehicle into parking spaces almost exclusively so it was natural for me, but it did take them some getting used to. Now we have no issues and they’re confident each time.

Yesterday I tried to manifest it to be a Tuesday, but it was still another Monday. Hoping today can be a Wednesday.
