  • Look, the US would not hesitate to nuke China/Russia or any real competitor state if they thought they could escape being destroyed by retaliation. So it’s not that they’re above it. Or that they’re not deranged enough to try and find an excuse if they think they can come out of it ahead. It’s just that patrols around their waters are not going to push them to do it. If they intend to do it because they’re backed into a corner and think odds are good they’ll do it, they won’t use a patrol as pretext as that’s weak even for them. So it won’t tip the scales either way is what I’m saying.

  • Well just the same it’s as likely that:

    1. His handler was a double-agent or US operative fishing them the whole time.
    2. He confessed to it after a slip-up or under suspicion after being questioned.
    3. They found out at some point, got malware sent to his phone, decypted the messages that way.
    4. Some combination of these.

While it certainly is possible that the US has compromised and/or is running top e2e encrypted messengers and I wouldn’t use them myself for anything that’s considered a serious threat to national security, it’s also just as likely they may have for example used metadata inference via the big brother NSA global intercept program (which actually is a number of programs) to say “hey this US military IP address sure is sending regular messages to this IP address we’ve inferred (which itself is the real breach here in China’s operations if true) to belong to Chinese intelligence via this encrypted messenger” at which point they don’t have to know message content to know something is up, deploy the malware/and|or seize the device physically and there ya go.

US going around shitting and crying itself over Chinese “societal surveillance” that they fear will and has historically allowed them to shut down American spy networks in China do the same thing but globally and not just nationally and unlike China have no protections against misuse, share the data with between 1 (UK), 7, 14, or 21 countries (eyes agreements), and oh yeah practice rendition, torture, and assassination without trial.

We’re Marxists. We’re against liberalism. Liberalism is the ideology of capitalism as another user already told you.

You’ve been taught a false binary. This is intentional to limit your ability to think critically about capitalism. All of us were. There is no binary.

There is liberalism (subset of which include conservatism, US Republicans), Marxism, and technically you could have non-liberal reactionaries like say sincere Monarchists who prefer a return to feudalism or some other older system and reject the enlightenment. However, largely speaking there are two groups as the amount of reactionaries who genuinely reject liberalism and assert a desire to return to and an embrace of a pre-liberal philosophy is shockingly small and they have no real traction anywhere among anyone, especially among Republican voters seething and crying about liberalism as to a one those people like most parts of liberalism (many of them espousing a return to “classical liberalism” or "liberalism before all these uppity women and minorities got rights and did things I didn’t like) and embrace for example the liberal idea of free enterprise, free markets, etc.

We reject the notion that we are at the end of history, that liberalism represents some final, perfect stage of humanity as opposed to previous societal stages such as the feudal, the monarchistic, the slave-society, the tribal, hunter-gatherer primativism, etc. As Marxists we say of liberalism what many liberals said of feudalism, namely that it was a historical stage, that it may have in certain ways represented advancements over previous ways of organizing society, but that it never-the-less is inferior to our proposed successor.

Just as liberalism did not represent some sort of wacko total year-zero rejection of the societies and systems that came before it but rather proposed a radical furthering of certain rights and ideas, so too Marxism while rejecting liberalism as out-modded, out-dated, and at this point backwards and bad, does not wholly reject and want to turn all of society upside down. We are a progressive force. We are for progress. We are for emancipation. But we are against capitalism. We are against privately held means of production. We are for the people, the workers being the rulers, the dictatorship over the current owning class to impose our will, our ends, our goals, our goods over their greed. With force. To create a new society, to gradually erode away the old as liberalism eroded away previous societies before it. This is our project, this is our calling. So yes we reject liberalism.

We embrace a scientific approach, we reject many things liberals take as immutable, as unchallengable, as laws unable or unwise to be challenged by humans.

  • Be respectful. I know, I know they’re liberals and it gets frustrating.

But our case won’t be helped by harassing them and the issue is not one big site defederating from us, it’s if we allow a handful of users to throw a shit-fit and harass them over it which they’ll spread around as agit-prop against us to other instances to encourage them to defederate at which point we truly will be alone.

Maybe some people are fine with that but I can live with not posting on liberal instances, not dunking on their users and letting them have their political discussions without interjection if it means more instances I can generally interact with under one account. I don’t think any of us here seriously think the situation will be improved by giving them cause. They’d still come here anyways goodness knows to interject their opinions so it’s not like withholding posting on their platform and following their rules prevents you from being able to interact with liberals.

Just my opinion. Rather not get us locked out of the fediverse at the start by giving them any excuses. Yes they’ll probably do it anyways as they’ll manufacture or find one (just as reddit admins were fond of inventing new reasoning and rules to fit the occasion of needing to get rid of troublemakers) but let’s try and force them to reach for a reason, not hand them one.

  • It’s a distraction. He’s not a Marxist, he’s not meaningfully anti-imperialist in rhetoric (equivocates on Ukraine for instance I believe, not pro-China, might even call it a dictatorship or oppressive, can’t remember; being pro-Cuba doesn’t count, Obama lowered some sanctions on them after all and although it upsets some gusanos in Florida it’s not a key piece of US hegemony like Russia/China are) and he won’t get a platform to spread anything positive on. If he won (he won’t) he’d be blackmailed, threatened or killed. The only point of participating in bourgeois elections is with a vanguard party so you can raise awareness of its platform, our rhetoric, our points, our program.

As he is not a Marxist, as he is a IMO an OP or at least knows the limits of what he can say without getting killed and adheres to them and as he is ideologically a liberal I don’t see him as that useful.

I have to be honest in that I see Trump is being the most destabilizing force in the upcoming election. Is he anti-imperialist and principled? No. Is he Marxist? Obviously not. Is he a beastly ghastly piece of shit guilty of all the usual crimes and more? Obviously. But he does stand a chance of winning and actually taking power and his winning will upset an awful lot of imperialists in the Democratic party halls of power and kick them out (I would love to see Victoria Nuland and Jake Sullivan kicked out as they’re either competent when it comes to prolonging the empire’s life or dangerously deranged enough to get us into a nuclear war). Will they be replaced by neo-cons? Doubtless in many cases but shifting leaders in the middle of things is like replacing a director after shooting has begun, it can’t help but be at least a little disruptive. Will it entirely change the program? No. Certain things are advanced by organs of the state that aren’t elected and are beyond accountability since killing Kennedy. The China show-down will continue apace, he won’t make peace there. But what he will do is anger allies, hurt the US image badly, chaotic and violent shifts in policy like perhaps pulling out of things with Russia or withholding enough support to tip the balance leaving the Europeans feeling upset and whiplashed and the Ukrainians feeling stabbed in the back as well as giving China another example to whisper to the separatists on Taiwan about why they shouldn’t trust the US.

I’m not saying campaign for Trump (don’t, organize) but well I wouldn’t be upset if he won. We’ve already lost abortion rights, the march of the reactionary post-cold-war claw-back against the people continues under Biden unabated, doubtless he’ll push that more but it would happen anyways and Biden is seen as stable whereas Trump getting back into power would traumatize a lot of liberals, do a lot of damage to the US image, further reinforce the idea it is a declining unserious power and set liberals and reactionaries in the US at each others throats ever more which is where I want them, not together united to impose imperialism and doom on the world and extend the reign of the US. I’d rather have that than more Biden and civility liberalism nonsense while we lose our rights, our futures, and while he re-organizing the US to try and preserve its life longer in an effective way. Trump is a monkey with a wrench. I want to see what he does. He won’t bring the whole thing done but he’ll mess things up and at key moments when the world is struggling for multi-polarity, we need someone who messes things up, who makes foolish moves because his gut tells him to. We need someone who hesitates and needs it explained to him 3 times because he isn’t that smart.

So no I don’t support Trump but he might be the least bad option (in a field of abominations and terrible choices) out there in terms of practical effects (ideologically obviously we couldn’t disagree more, though his isolationism is useful for helping ease the empire into its grave more peacefully). One more thing, liberals stopped organizing to help minorities and fight back against moves of government as soon as Biden got into office, they all decided he’d take care of things. With Trump back some of them might get a little more militant. You want abortion rights back? You want student debt relief? You’re not going to get it with liberals sleepily saying Biden will get to it or at least he’s not Trump.

  • It’s unfortunate but not surprising to see the idea of federation falling apart at the first signs of divergence from western liberal heterodoxy. One I suppose problem with the idea of free association instead of a dictatorship (admins of centralized website) is that people are going to squabble. You’re going to have de-federations over this and over drama between admin teams, accusations, counter-accusations, differences in opinion on slightly different matters.

The fediverse is a grand idea I’m just not sure our present society can work very well with it. People are going to end up needing a bunch of different accounts which is inconvenient and hurts adoption because of that inconvenience, the reason why FB and such remain big is the network effect, first mover advantage, etc, (something people doing these things pretend to care about now but will less as time goes on). That does bring us back to early internet forum culture at worst which is a step forward in some ways from what we had but meh.

We have to face we’ll never have back what we had on gzd on reddit, a captive audience who couldn’t help but see our stuff shoved in their faces by an algorithm while the admins were too busy deleting references to the fact spez gives awards to pedophiles and likes slavery to notice most goings on.

We can have our space full of Marxists and that’s good enough for me. Lots of spam and liberals from Lemmy world coming here, to be honest I’m pretty sure we get 90% of the brigading from their side and they might get 10%. Though that’s probably a bad term, it’s 90% them seeing our posts and organically coming over in disorganized fashion to disagree and post stuff and 10% our users doing the same with their stuff. No malice or organized campaigns involved or needed.

  • Please look up who the first secretary general of NATO was. Specifically what his old job was (hint: it was being a Nazi). America filled west German government with ‘former’ Nazis, they filled NATO with ‘former’ Nazis.

It is not at all a stretch to call it the Nazi Arming and Training Organization as that’s what it did. It was formed as explicitly anti-Soviet, anti-Russian organization. When one understands all the little connections, Gladio, rat-lines, terrorist actions in East Berlin, etc, it becomes quite clear what they are.

Now maybe I’m a little fast and loose with banter here I grant you that. Fascism technically could be understood as a phenomenon of Europe in the early-mid 20th century. It is after all in many ways nothing more then colonialism turned on white people. Sure it also occurred because capitalism was in distress and the bourgeoisie conjured it up against the reds and liberals saw it as preferable to communism.

Let’s just call NATO ontologically evil, vile, an enemy of the working class, freedom, humanity. The tool of an oppressive empire that violates human rights, sews terror, acts morally righteous while being nothing but a force for suffering and keeping humanity in chains.

  • Could all be smoke blowing bullshit to try and scare the Chinese. Make them think America has these super-advanced alien-derived beyond beyond next generation super wunder-craft that they’ll have no choice but to unleash in a direct conflict. The goal being to give more weight to US credibility to try and dissuade them from challenging the US in Taiwan or elsewhere when they act.

However it really doesn’t matter, unless these craft have energy barrier force fields around them or can move absolutely ridiculously, impossibly fast (doubt, they’d have applied it to interceptor tech or a next-gen missile program by now but they still lag behind Russia/China) they can still be hit and taken out by hyper-sonic missiles even if they could give them a theoretical advantage in dog-fighting with jets.

Come to think of it that seems as good a reason as any as the US is increasingly lacking credibility because of Ukraine, inventing this myth that we have these super secret alien-derived wunder-craft which we’ve been hiding and avoiding using would do wonders for the psyche of the western militarist which is going to get quite a rattling soon when Ukraine loses. They can just claim we didn’t dare unleash them there because we didn’t want Russia to have a chance to study them and are holding them in reserve for any kind of direct conflict.
