Lately, we’ve cancelled most of our streaming services, and will just pick up the occasional Blu-Ray or CD that we actually WANT to watch/listen to. Also, our small town public library has a decent selection of said media to check out FOR DAMN FREE.

There is something to be said for deliberately choosing a movie or show to watch ahead of time, and then following through on that choice. It just feels more satisfying than scrolling through an endless* list of whatever Netflix feels like shoveling out in front of you when you plop on the couch to veg.

*Actually, in the last several years, you can’t even do that. Your feed is just the same 20-30 titles sorted in different pretend categories, while 99% of the catalog is buried back behind a search so that you can barely even stumble across things you may have wanted to watch anymore.

Honestly, the only people using these will be the rich wannabe-redneck republicans who like to post their gun collections on instagram. It’s an opportunity to virtue signal your gun fetish and nothing else.

Vending machines are great for when you need a small amount of something on the spur of the moment–but kinda worthless for something like bullets (presumably, if you’re planning ahead to have a gun on you, you would also have thought to stuff a few rounds in your pocket at least) When they start selling actual guns, then I’ll be worried.

And to take a slightly different tack, if the biochemical and electrical activity in your brain were not deterministic, how would you ever know? It’s one thing to believe that you made a decision on your own “Free Will”, but how could you possibly rewind the entire universe (or at least some sufficiently small portion of it), including your brain’s exact atomic state, and re-run the experiment to know for sure? At that point, what would “Free Will” even mean?

The fact that the post has been screenshot (screenshotted?) several times is how you know it really happened, exactly as written. If it was just text that was copy/pasted, anyone could have changed the details, or even made it up entirely. It is a little strange that noone clapped at the end… but hey, history be crazy like that.
