- guy likes to travel with comfort on public dime
- it’s a private bribe session
- he’ll be asking US to kick some money his way to take over the “uncooperative” government

It’s a federal program and similar to First Home Buyer’s program where you get interest free loan for 10 yrs and power companies for the most part have a program of “buying” your excess power so you can start with that. BC Hydro offers $5k rebate on battery systems as well, so now is a good time to jump in.

There’s a distinct vacuum in US politics where working class has been completely abandoned by republicans and democrats, where republicans are busy enriching themselvesband democrats are busy enriching rich donors who in turn shower democrats (with small exceptions) in kickbacks etc. Whoever seizes workers can have next election, but no politician seems to be interested. It really looks like Idiocracy v1.0 is in the works.
droopy4096@lemmy.cato Canada@lemmy.ca•As Canada burns, what does the Conservative leader do? He hysterically attacks electric vehicles.12·22 days agoFun facts (that should never get in the way of PP rant) :
- Solar is government sibsidised
- Rural is the best location for solar (what with all those acreages, barns etc)
- Full off-grid capabilities where you don’t have to run to town for anything)… well.maybe dieselfor tractor
- I see quite a few rural installs and when I mention to folks availability of Solar at slight premium for the first 10yrs a lot of folk are “sold” on the idea
so yeah, Armageddon and killing a way of life… maybe hillbilly’s way of life but definitely not rural, 'cause we’re down with full power independence baby!

All the parties shifted to the right on political spectrum, with NDP firmly planted at the centre now rather than being to the left. And since we’re voting on right-of-centre parties might as well go all out and vote cons, which is what happened. Pelple asked for off-centre solutions NDP did not have them.

Given latest stats huge portion of population does not use or see any use in AI - i.e. can be claimed AI vegans so in aggregation reports those could be viewed as a subset of Vegans… resulting in undeniable truth that 90%+ of population are vegan now

droopy4096@lemmy.cato World News@lemmy.world•Hamas Wants Gaza to Starve [Please first read, then comment]English32·1 month agoIsrael (or more precisely it’s PM and his clique) is definitely interested in prolonging the war, the same as Hamas. One can’t talk of one without the other. There werr some materials floating around that at some point Israel “sponsored” Hamas the same as US sponsored middle east terrorist groups just to be attacked by them later.
Keeping state of constant war is a very lucrative endeavour - you can shatter liberties, you can subject population to virtually anything claiming “war time” and rake profits from arms trade etc. While raiding humanitarian aid warehouses etc. It’s a very dirty business. Hamas needs to be disarmed and disbanded, Netaniahu has to be deposed and persecuted, Palestine should be it’s own state and Israeli need to return what’s not really theirs. But none of the homicidal entities is willing to be persecuted thus this war will continue until one of them destroyed or reformed
effective city planning would be better like a lot better. Having environmental clues and enforcement techniques is way more effective as it prevents and not punishes. Person injured from speeding incident is not going to be saved by $500 or whatever fine. When driver physically feels unsafe crossing certain speed limit - there’s no reason to monitor or fine him/her. “More cameras” is a cheap brand bandaid that peels off two hours later. It is trying to save people “after the fact”, when it’s way too late
droopy4096@lemmy.cato Today I Learned (TIL)@lemmy.ca•TIL the Amish have one of the least allergic populations in the developed world.21·2 months agothere is available independent research, but since it’s an expensive endeavor and industrial complexes funding “their own” research to say “it’s fine” (insert meme here) chances of quality research dropping into our laps are slim-to-none. So best we can do is by experimentation and observation ourselves. Several chronic conditions magically disappeared for me by paying more attention to my food origins and methods of preparation, moving away from pollution centers etc. People around me report very similar outcomes so I’m willing to trust those scarse and rare “contradictory” reports pitting industrialized lifestyle against “simpler” life.
droopy4096@lemmy.cato politics @lemmy.world•DEMS PULL UPSET ON EPSTEIN FILES: Democrats dropped an 11th-hour motion at an unrelated hearing after noticing that most GOP members on the panel had publicly demanded the files be released.13·2 months agohigh horse? Hardly. Not having principles and being opportunistic is how they lost last election. Sitting on their hands all this time approving republican bills is a confirmation to that. Epstein has ZERO impact on average worker at this point. Yes criminals have to be in jail and human trafficking is a disgust. However this will affect lives of hundreds while millions are still not protected and Democrats have no intent of protecting working class. Biden flirted with more pro-worker stance and with Haris things were back to status quo. So no, my friend no high horse, just looking realistically.
this conversation needs to happen. NDP should go back to it’s roots and instead of seeking power, should talk about things others would rather not: stop talking “economy and GDP” and start talking “worker protections” , human dignity and human rights. Unfortunately electoral reform speech coming from NDP right now would sound like “sore loser whining” but it also needs to be talked about.
