1·6 days agoStability is the main reason to use Debian in the first place. If you’re not going to use stable, then you might as well use a different distro.
You don’t think allowing Trump to “adjust the algorithms” is bad?
A driver can absolutely freeze the entire computer.
That said it’s not really likely to be Nvidia since so many people are using that one without issues.
Linux people just like to hate on Nvidia and blame them for every possible issue because they’re not open source.

Sounds like you already know the real solution: use KDE
Debian-based systems usually a few years behind on versions, which is probably why it doesn’t work there.
The point still stands that it’s harder/less-supported on AMD.
And for the record, VRR also works on my setup, but I have it disabled due to flickering caused by the TV-side.
I’m running 4k HDR 120Hz on NVidia 5070 in KDE Plasma on CachyOS.
To enable in Proton games it requires an extra environment variable.
The AMD part is actually the opposite, since AMD drivers on Linux can’t do HDMI 2.1, but NVidia can.

Come back in another decade when things like Flatpak are actually usable without giving up a bunch of features or having to change settings or do workarounds to get everything working.
When I was doing web searches for distro research just before Win 10 EOL (and before Zorin exploded), Zorin was one of the top recommendations that I repeatedly saw from users in Linux communities when people asked for distro recommendations.
Zorin was also the top recommendation given to me by distrochooser.de.
So I’m not surprised that many people leaving Windows ended up there.
I made a short list of distros to try and Zorin was very buggy for me (possibly because they just did a major release at that time) and I don’t like GNOME, so I ultimately ended up on CachyOS.
Because the US blocked imports of the best & cheapest EVs because Elon wouldn’t have been able to compete.
