Technically was pretty easy but there was quite a bit of snow on the ridge (pretty consistently waist to chest deep) so it was super slow going. Next time I think we’d try go up one of the faces so we could skin up but the avvy danger was a bit higher than we would’ve liked, so we stuck to the ridge, which was super ploddy :D
Ohau is a bit of a hidden gem in NZ - sneaks in between the way more touristy Mt Cook and Queenstown. Well worth a visit if you find yourself over here!
Also, if you tap with two fingers you jump
To see how far down you can get.

To be honest, not heaps of gear on the pitch - it’s pretty cruisy climbing though (maybe 15, in Ewbanks)
Have you tried https://search.brave.com?
Disclaimer: I work at Brave, but I think it’s pretty good
Tassie is more about the adventure climbing. If you want bouldering in Australia the Grampians are meant to be pretty sick, and there’s some good stuff in Sydney & the Blue Mountains.
You could also come boulder in Castle Hill, across the ditch in NZ
There’s heaps in Tasmania, pretty accessible grades too!
+1 for Cradle, I enjoyed it so much more than I thought I was going to
I’ve been reading The Blighted Stars, which I’m quite enjoying. Nothing too serious but a fun read.
Children of Time deals with it, but only very indirectly. It is a really good read though!
The Waking Fire by Anthony Ryan is pretty great, or the Black Prism by Brent Weeks.
Anything by Brandon Sanderson is great (The Stormlight Archives or Mistborn is probably the best starting point).
It’s a 25 in the Ewbanks system, so I think a 7b in the French scale. Really fun climb! There’s a bit more detail on The Crag
Yeah, they were a good ride! I found Arcane Ascension by Andrew Rowe to be kinda similar.
Will Wight also has a few other series, and I think some of them are set in the same universe (though there isn’t really any crossover).
His other books don’t have that same sense of progression though (though they’re pretty good in their own right).
I came across this earlier - not sure if Lemmy is quite big enough for it but always good to find more Cosmere fans https://lemmy.ml/c/cosmere
I came across https://lemmy.ml/c/cosmere for books set in The Cosmere
Try this Brave Search Goggle I made, which searches a bunch of NZ companies and retailers (not all of it is NZ gear, and some of it is made by an NZ company overseas, like Macpac, Kathmandu ect).
Some of the companies I came across when putting it together:
(the full list of NZ sites in the goggle is here)
Sorry, most of it is more outdoor focused than everyday
