Gotta admit I was not expecting the A in ScottA to stand for annihilation rather than just apartheid
Iāve been thinking about this topic along similar lines. Thereās a race to the bottom, and someoneās fully licit corpus is just going to end up being worse (in user perception, not in whatever gamed metrics/benchmarks are de rigueur) than someone elseās illicit corpus, even if they are broadly similar at a glance.
There are also likely other, smaller factors that make this difficult. I expect my small body of public work with permissive licensing has been an input to one or more of these things at some point, but I would not be surprised if the fidelity of provenance were not maintained consistently, because that is not easy to do, and it doesnāt buy you much if you donāt intend to provide attribution.
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to effectively use AI. The methodology is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical computer science, most of an LLMās capabilities will go over a typical userās head. Thereās also the modelās nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into its training data - its internal architecture draws heavily from statistical mechanics, for instance. The true users understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these limitations, to realize that theyāre not just bugsāthey say something deep about an AIās operational boundaries. As a consequence, people who dislike using AI for coding truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldnāt appreciate, for instance, the nuance in an LLMās inability to debug a program, which itself is a cryptic reference to the halting problem. Iām smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as the LLM fails to get an overview of a repository larger than its context window. What fools⦠how I pity them. š And yes, by the way, I DO have a favorite transformer architecture. And no, you cannot see it. Itās for the ladiesā eyes only- and even they have to demonstrate that theyāre within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothing personnel kid š
wait wasnāt g moral too? the more, the betterā¦
related, but tonight I will pour one out for Conkeror
NGL I always wanted to use IceWeasel just to say I did, but now it might be because itās the last bastion!
Not that it should be a regular thing but it is fun to watch this post get swarmed by slopfan reply guys

normally Iād say thatās true but he wanted to impart the juggling in particular to his progeny
maybe his endgame is proving the halting problem
thought I checked it, my bad T_T
A couple months ago I lobbied for (and won) my weekly trivia team to use the name āmikeās hard lemonpartyā
Then I learned exactly how old I was
Youāre right, Borkfan is too easy to remember, my not-ban fork is now called Frabnok.
Look out, professional Nix crybaby Jon Ringer is back with his fork.
In other news, I have my own as well called Borkfan, absolutely not a ban fork due to my having threatened multiple people, but instead dedicated to the idea that a technology that lacks chud approval must necessarily not be in the true hacker spirit.
Orange site on pager bombs in Lebanon:
If we try to do what we are best at here at HN, letās focus the discussion on the technical aspects of it.
It immediately reminded me of Stuxnet, which also from a technical perspective was quite interesting.
Yup I refused to even post that nonsense because I did the exact same scroll through it and was nonplussed by the amount of preamble this dude absolutely did not merit in defense of his terminal poaster syndrome.
So the orange site is having a normal one over Python BFDL trying to skirt CoC by talking about mod actions against some old dude who caught a suspension for being precisely the sort of edgelord poaster Iād expect out of a Python maintainer, which the orange site was also not happy about. I even read a bunch of his posts in the thread, like where he calls people standing up to NixOS leadership ātrue villainsā.
Pauly G is telling on himself here: what he means is that his kids learned English from movies.
you mean the Mackleless right
