  • They know what it is, but they’re too busy on the app betting about how fucked up it can get. You Aussies love those dumb apps. OK, I’m kidding, I actually think they’re too scared to protest because climate protesters are being vilified, harassed and jailed as criminals. Can’t disrupt the narrative - The beers won’t drink themselves! Won’t be long before Australia has something like Belgium’s pre-crime detention. Naughty Aussies will be rounded up and detained before they go and protest an event, and no one will give a fuck while the pubs open or Gogglebox is on. Once everyone is forced to get the Digital ID with facial recognition no one will be game to protest because they will freeze your bank accounts. And you won’t be able to transact financially because cash money is nearly dead in Australia. Last time I was there everyone did everything on their corporate tracking and advertising device (phone). You guys are so screwed and you don’t even know it. Your government does a tremendous job of projecting the illusion of freedom while you actually have none. Fuck me, your last Prime Minister gave himself four extra ministerial positions without consulting anyone, which breaks your federal laws, and no one did anything! You guys need an ICAC before anything can be remedied. Only vote for candidates willing to implement a robust ICAC.

Afterthought is an understatement. I didn’t mind piping some of that info into an i3 status bar, but just a couple things. Who needs to watch all that distracting system stuff all the time. Using autocompletions on the command line would get that info quick enough. And whoever down voted my original comment - I’m laughing about it. Serious business right?

Ok, so I’m wondering how you explain the billions of dollars profit corporate sites generate from scraping and selling our private data? I’m also genuinely interested in how you might explain how TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or anything Google are more privacy friendly than Lemmy?
