“Your face doesn’t match how you say you feel”
Work is being extra difficult today. It’s not at the point where I’m in danger of burning out, but I’ll sure be glad when I clock off for the day.
I’m not in the US but recently met someone who is, and they made a great point about nurturing and supporting the communities/groups you’re already in. Whether you meet physically or virtually, spend time with and be present for each other.
As for finding a community, one of the things that has really worked for me is finding a local hardcore punk music venue and going to shows there. Even if you’re not into the music, the chances are good that the people in that scene are inclusive of queer, trans, neurodiverse and disabled identities.
Edit: I was in a bit of a hurry in my original reply. I want to add that I hope you’re safe, and that you are able to find support, love and hope through your community. I once saw a tshirt with the slogan “QUEER LOVE DESTROYS FASCISM” and I keep holding onto that thought to get me through dark days.
My closest one is Manchester, UK on a Tuesday. Looks like I’m taking 2 days off of work for this one.
They used to be part of the same scene as Napalm Death, and played some of the same shows.
I’ve only recently seen one of these for the first time, in Bristol. I know they’re not rare but I was still ridiculously excited.
They never stand still so these are great shots!
I am so excited for this!
When Katya says “nobody cares about lgbt rights” she’s signalling that she doesn’t care about them.
It’s your decision how you want to carry on, but be aware of that.
That’s great to hear!
Ah no, I’m talking about Prospect Park in Reading, UK
Okay I think I’ve mentioned this before on one of your previous posts but I grew up near Prospect Park and seeing this photo took me back to being a child and being taken on that miniature railway.
Thank you for the nostalgia hit, and as always another wonderful photo ❤️
Honestly they bring it live. If you ever get the chance, go see them.
I’m pretty sore today but very, very happy.
Aw I’m really sorry. I hope the time you have with her is happy and something you’ll cherish.
Nice!
As an aside, this picture is so synonymous with the album for me that I often forget it’s a photo of something that really happened. I have to keep reminding myself of that.
I’d recommend Anansi Boys, Good Omens and if you’re into comics, The Sandman.
My favourite of his works is Ocean at the End of the Lane, but I’m very conflicted about that one due the parallels pointed out in this article.
Edit: removed American Gods from the recommendations as you said you had already tried it.
I feel this is deliberately misleading. You don’t get to incite violence, causing fear and people’s lives to be threatened, and then cower behind “Buh… buh… but my free speech!”
😂 yeah that’s strong terrier energy. They either have no concept, or give no fucks, about how small they are. My family’s Jack Russell would square up to horses and she would not back down from anything
I think it amazes them too 😂
