That is how the rickroll came to be…
I actually shocked no one did that in this thread (yet).
My name is Jess. I build and manage servers for both work and fun. I also occasionally make music.

This is great.
Q: Can I provide my own wood?
A: In most cases we can handle your wood.

That’s kinda the point. Her character was literally created as the insufferable diva on the Muppet Show.

They probably just reused the animation of him eating a sandwich.
Even I get boarded sometimes. You think I had a choice?

First off, this page references quite a few bills passed, some of which I like and some of which make me concerned, but let’s focus on AB-1043. You can find the text of the actual bill here.
Here’s the more relevant excerpt:
1798.501.
(a) An operating system provider shall do all of the following:
(1) Provide an accessible interface at account setup that requires an account holder to indicate the birth date, age, or both, of the user of that device for the purpose of providing a signal regarding the user’s age bracket to applications available in a covered application store.
(2) Provide a developer who has requested a signal with respect to a particular user with a digital signal via a reasonably consistent real-time application programming interface that identifies, at a minimum, which of the following categories pertains to the user:
(A) Under 13 years of age.
(B) At least 13 years of age and under 16 years of age.
© At least 16 years of age and under 18 years of age.
(D) At least 18 years of age.
(3) Send only the minimum amount of information necessary to comply with this title and shall not share the digital signal information with a third party for a purpose not required by this title.
Basically OSes will have to have a prompt during setup that asks for age/birthdate to determine the legal age category they user fits in.
Then the OS has to provide some sort of API that provides that category to apps/websites that request it so they can gate content/features appropriately.
IMO this doesn’t seem that bad. It’s basically taking the “I solemnly swear I’m over 18” checkbox away from websites and just requiring it once OS wide (or at least per user account).
I particularly like the specification of #3 requiring only the minimum info required to comply be sent and nothing more.
This actually seems like an attempt to curb all the ID collecting privacy nightmares that are happening lately with poorer implementations.

Yeah, I noticed this, so I started using RSS feeds of my subscribed channels. I honestly think RSS (and other web 2.0 tech) is when the internet peaked from a user experience perspective.
RSS only faded away because it’s so convenient that it’s hard to monetize. When the goal became keeping people on your platform as long as possible, RSS was antithetical to that goal. So platforms either abandoned support for it or (like YouTube) stopped advertising its existence.

I don’t kink shame unless they’re into snaps.
Millennials are killing the generational warfare industry.

Listen, I get it. I’m literally trans myself. I’ve been torn down and bullied to the point of suicide attempts multiple times in my life. I’ve lost friends to this.
I think you’re missing the point. I’m not trying to defend anyone whose goal is to harm others, and I never would.
I’ve also seen countless angry internet mobs armed with the first headline they read cause harm to the wrong people over and over again. All I’m suggesting is to stay critical and let the experts collect the evidence before lighting the torches.
If nothing else, stay measured for your own sake. This constant barrage of awful news is almost always more harmful to us than to the people causing all the harm.

They’re likely refilling the positions with different people who don’t know the job used to pay more.

The implication of the article and conclusion that most would come to upon reading it is that her death was the direct result of what “HeCheated” did.
It’s not an unreasonable conclusion. Their actions were despicable. It almost certainly contributed.
But there are many pitfalls racing to find a single “reason” for any tragedy, including false accusations and bullying the wrong people.
Though in this case, that website probably deserves whatever hate it gets, either way.

Neither I nor the article is saying discrimination didn’t happen.
I’m merely pointing out the dangers of clinging to an acute cause—a single event that motivated the tragedy. Maybe there is one, but it’s just as likely it was the sum of many small cuts over her life.
I’ve never encountered this in real life, and the few Gen Z I do interact with seem normal to me.
Seems like more contrived generational drama. Can we just stop generalizing generations, please? As a millennial, I’m so sick of it.

It’s all fun and games until it’s still fun and games.

Yeah, I still hate Nintendo, but this guy was really asking for a lawsuit.
Saving this.
