I guess? Mutually assured destruction is a form of brinkmanship that I’m not sure if I’m comfortable attempting. I won’t judge you for how you choose to defend yourself against this administration but I will say that guns rarely deescalate a situation. I truly hope that ICE or the FBI or whoever actually do back down from more violent actions if they fear for their lives, but I feel like it’s more likely that they will simply engage in greater shows of force. Maybe that will wake more people up to what they’re doing.

I don’t believe in the horse shoe theory except when it comes to gun owners larping about rising up against the government.

sexybenfranklin@ttrpg.networkto Programmer Humor@lemmy.ml•I'm new to using Ruby and this tickled me pinkEnglish3·8 天前Small correction, it’s every fourth year except every hundreth year except every 400th year. I’m assuming the misconception comes from the last time it was a 100th also being a 1000th (2000) but the next time a leap year will end in 00 is 2400
sexybenfranklin@ttrpg.networkto Technology@lemmy.zip•Coinbase CEO explains why he fired engineers who didn’t try AI immediatelyEnglish1·8 天前There’s nothing stopping them from firing you, but a one time offense will not get the government to deny you you unemployment, assuming you appeal any denial. Especially if the only other ammo they have is from five years ago.

sexybenfranklin@ttrpg.networkto Technology@lemmy.zip•Coinbase CEO explains why he fired engineers who didn’t try AI immediatelyEnglish1·9 天前Extremely doubtful that this would rise to a firing that was justified enough that would preclude the employees seeking unemployment. They would really want to have a longer paper trail than “CEO sent a slack message and then a meeting a week later.” Not saying that this was an illegal firing. This was just power tripping.
Don’t you have a comically tall sandwich to be constructing somewhere?
sexybenfranklin@ttrpg.networkto News@lemmy.world•Minnesota teen says server forced her to prove her gender in restaurant bathroomEnglish4·20 天前I don’t blame those who didn’t vote for Kamala for her stance on Israel, I get it. I’m just tired of people who didn’t vote specifically against Trump then act really surprised that the Democrats are putting up an anemic defense of our rights, because in theory they should have expected it, given how they voted. Asking why Democrats aren’t stopping fascism when you ostensibly did not support them because you felt they would not do enough to stop fascism should be readily apparent.
I am not using “you” here as in you, piefood, just as a general you
sexybenfranklin@ttrpg.networkto News@lemmy.world•Minnesota teen says server forced her to prove her gender in restaurant bathroomEnglish1·20 天前I mean, “neatly lost” here is a disingenuous phrase for “won”. The 2020 election wasn’t even particularly close either, in terms of the Electoral College, which is unfortunately the only part that really.
I agree with you otherwise, so sorry for the pedantry. Dems should have definitely learned from the midterms, and they should have learned Biden was too old for a second term even before he announced he’d run again.
I’d say I hope they learn from 2024 but I doubt it.

sexybenfranklin@ttrpg.networkto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•HR people smiling at you thinking that you are a complete moronEnglish36·21 天前I got laid off about five and a half years ago, at the start of Covid. The meeting was with my manager and his boss (who I was also friendly with). I got a meeting invite and asked if we could push it back an hour so I could drive my wife to work, they said sure. I told my wife on the drive that I was getting laid off. Sure enough, I was. They paid me five weeks severance and gave me resources to file for unemployment. It was due to Covid causing a huge drop in money coming in, which was understandable. Honestly, I didn’t like my job, I had already hired a company to rewrite my resumé. So it worked out. At least my boss and his boss had the spine to do it personally. I’ll always give them credit for that.
I don’t know if you have Kroger near you (or one of their subsidiaries) but the Carbmaster brand they sell is good, and only comes out to 3 grams of carbs per 240ml (8oz glass), which is half of what fairlife has. I started buying it when I got diagnosed diabetic. I don’t eat much cereal anymore but when I do, the milk still tastes good.
God bless ya, I tried drinking unsweetened almond milk after I got diagnosed diabetic and I thought my taste buds stopped working because it tasted like nothing. Not in the way that water “tastes like nothing,” but like, in a way where the only stimulus I got was mouthfeel. It was weird.

Since then, Mario & Luigi, Sea of Stars, and Clair Obscur are the only things I’ve played, turn based rpg-wise.
Imagine publicly admitting you’re too dumb to get the meaning on a t-shirt and then thinking that admission is some sort of point of pride.
I wanted it to be “explore the cursed island full of monsters and traps”, and one of the players just wanted to open a restaurant. No. Bad.
Respectfully, that player is an ass.
A game about opening a restaurant sounds really fun. Playing a character like that in a different kind of game ain’t the time or place though.
I just started running a game of Broken Compass, and I truly am blessed to have my group, because they’re great, but we still all built characters together as part of session zero so I could make sure they all fit the theme of the story I’m trying to have them inhabit.
Lean into it. Engage wih the mechanics and the theme of the game.
Don’t have a huge backstory laid out, because it’s fun to be able to make stuff up in the moment without it having to be a huge retcon.
Know what everything on your sheet does.
That’s literally just an HOA, but only for multi-tenant buildings. Like, I get that you don’t have them for detached single family homes, but every aspect you’re describing is just how HOAs function in the US.
