This brings back memories of an abomination of a design I had to implement that had 3 scrollable regions whose edges were really close to eachother. None of the regions had scroll bars either. Fortunately, the project got cancelled before it could see the light of day.

What I suspect is happening here is that it’s using a flexbox instead of a grid. I’m guessing it has a flex direction of row (horizontal left to right), uses flex wrap, and has each video thumbnail have a flex basis to keep them around the same size. It probably makes it easier to look good enough at most screen sizes without needing to have a bunch of media queries change the number of columns at different screen sizes, at the cost of things not always being perfectly aligned. Probably a good tradeoff compared to the alternative tbh.

I’ve been struggling with this shit too. I’m in a group chat with 3 trumpanzees, a Blue MAGA lib who thinks fascism is perfectly fine as long as the demonrats are doing it, and someone who subscribes to some vague lolbertarianism (all cishet crackermen, myself included). There was one who seems to be an actual leftist (I didn’t ask him about specifics), but he dipped from the chat a day or two ago when my friends were getting into an argument about the upcoming presidential election. I’m starting to think that was the right move.

If it weren’t for the fact that I had been close to these people for most of my life and they genuinely care about me, I am bad at meeting new people, and their lib/chudness is limited to garbage takes without acting on it, I’d have cut them out of my life a long time ago.

Shooting someone with a gun is certainly one way of blowing your load.

It got stalled for awhile due to butting heads with a contributor who wanted to take the app in a direction that me and dessalines fundamentally disagreed with. At several points we overwrote each others’ changes in PRs. After having a PR that got held up for months due to these arguments, dessalines and I decided to keep moving forward without waiting for his input. After spending some time setting up an end to end testing framework, I’m now moving at a noticeably faster pace. Compare the difference in time between the PR being opened and it being merged from the argument filled PR listed earlier and the most recent feature PR.
