Life isn’t even close to a level playing field. The family you are born into had the greatest effect on your future success than nearly any other factor.
I mean likely. I live in a better school district than most and have time to spend to help my kids with homework. I usually attribute all kid success to kid efforts. Don’t foresee myself as an adult going full narcissist and claiming credit, even partial, for the kid success.
It would be up to them to publicly acknowledge what they had other didn’t. Otherwise it’s kneecapping their achievements.
I mean it’s true. She doesn’t like hearing it.
It’s like the old craft system. A cobblers son was most likely to be a cobbler because they grew up around the skills tools and equipment. If a parent has a high level of skill and resources it’s way easier to teach it to a kid for a kid and for them to succeed.
I mean I would loved to have a parent in a position to help fund and guide my first business venture like that kids has.
If I was successful, I would do that for my kids.
It’s hard to know how other people will interpret what is posted online.
You are ok.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your favorite movie that is in a language which you do not speak?
46·2 days agoGodzilla minus one
It absolutely was not meant as one. I apologize to the poster above if it looks like that.
It seemed more like a neurodivergent lemmy comment. I tried to make a clear but direct response.
Is there a way that it could have been less misinterpreted?

Anarchism@lemmy.dbzer0.com•How do people actually fall into the "Tankie" mindset?
14·2 days agoThey are also ignoring that the USA had those things when it was the most repressive to the populace in the 1950-1970’s .
Foreign investment money is a powerful steroid for governments ability to make life better and control the population at the same time.

politics @lemmy.world•Americans are waking up. A grand reckoning awaits us
3·2 days agoPlease don’t mistake the lack of immediate results with a lack of protest success.
It’s about growing the protest cause as much as the immediate effect.
Vietnam was much more personal to Americans with people directly seeing children and brothers turned to meat. Those protests took a decade to see effects.
According to the self beliefs of Christianity he would fully qualify as a refugee in today’s use of the word and the current interpretation of the belief system.
Trying to use historical records to interpret myths and legends is an interesting exercise, but won’t add much to the general conversation.

3·2 days agoThe computer chronicles was something I watched growing up that informed and entertained me on tech.
I had actually started watching the computer chronicles on YouTube to get more information on retro computing.

I didn’t realize that after the show he went on to work with the internet archive.
I have so many fond memories of watching him interview tech luminaries each Saturday morning.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you successfully maintain a calorie deficit over the long run?
1·3 days agoGreat. Sounds like you have a strategy for you.
I just eat till I feel full, not paying attention to portions.
Even when I wasn’t watching what I eat at all I never salted a salad. Never found it necessary. I just like the way leafy greens taste.
We have pretty different sets of tastes.

Leopards Ate My Face@lemmy.world•Artists dump X as launch of new AI image editing feature sparks outrage - CryptopolitanEnglish
5·4 days agoThis is more leopards eating faces because the platform is absolutely there to provide data for the xAi platform.
Ever since that was announced it was known that x posts were going to be fed into ai training.
The artists posted content to an AI training platform are surprised their art is part of an AI tool . That is the lamf here.

Technology@lemmy.world•What an unprocessed photo looks likeEnglish
121·4 days agoNot sure how worth mentioning it is considering how good the overall write up is.
Even though the human visual system has a non-linear perception of luminance. The camera data needs to be adjusted because the display has a non-linear response. The camera data is adjusted to make sure it appears linear to the displays face. So it’s display non-uniform response that is being corrected, not the human visual system.
There is a bunch more that can be done and described.
3chip cmos sensors are about 20-25 years out of date technology. Mosaic pattern sensors have eclipsed them on most imaging metrics.
Sorry I haven’t reached out. You are going through a lot. The change is a big one and I’m proud of you, but I’m just not adjusted yet. it’s a me thing and not a you thing. I’m proud of you and how you are making it in a world that left me behind. I’m just not as in touch with me as you are with you. When the time comes I’ll have to reach out. Till then do the best you can .

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you successfully maintain a calorie deficit over the long run?
3·4 days agoI hope so.
It’s way easier to be extreme then constantly make choices. Takes a lot more brain power to says sometimes it’s okay as opposed to never.
Still I’m trying it out.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you successfully maintain a calorie deficit over the long run?
21·4 days agoYou do you.
It’s way easier to eat the right amount of food if you aren’t making it extra salty or extra sweet.
Basically I need to eat foods that actually taste good as opposed to making them palatable.
I have had to find different ways to season foods. I find I am more sensitive to salt and less salt makes me satisfied.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you successfully maintain a calorie deficit over the long run?
11·4 days agoEating fats to stay thin when you are young will lead to cardiovascular challenges when you older.
It does work a treat for a few decades. High Cholesterol helps build testosterone and suppress appetite. It’s just long term bad.

Thanks. Realize the kind of answer I gave won’t win me ‘points’ .
realistically if I could do that for my kids I would. I think lots of wealthy families do, only when the opportunities are media facing does it get backlash.
There isn’t a social media page devoted to farm families passing down multimillion dollar businesses as a matter of fact.
