  • Seeing this first hand with a 1st generation immigrant mother(not mine) I am getting to know as an adult.

The western philosophy is a bit different than it was explained. In the West the parents are responsible for the kids. They brought them into the world and they are responsible for raising them to be productive members of society. You don’t owe the kids, but you do have to raise them and look after them. If you don’t cps goes after the adult.

Behaving as your mom does is being asked to be treated like a child or a baby while still demanding the respect of being an adult.

  • Yep. You are dealing a person who straight up thinks it’s okay for Russia to invade Ukraine because the US also invaded a bunch of countries. You’ll hear a bunch of bullshit about history and geopolitics as parents post up pictures of dead kids.

They are on the other side of the same coin as MAGA and they want their chosen team to win.

These kind of people are always a problem. They only want things to get better for their groups and are perfectly willing to champion atrocity if it fits their views.

Paying attention to the daily slaughter of Ukrainians who are victims of imperial Russia should be consistent with supporting Palestinians and the democratically elected Venezuela government. They can hold what seem like counter views because it’s not about atrocity against civilians. It’s about what side gets to inflict it.

They truly believe paying attention to the Bucha massacre degrades the importance of US war crimes.

  • I’m surprised the article omits Trumps early direct threats to Canadian sovereignty. The article talks about people not believing the threats and then proceeds to talk about threats to other nations.

It’s understandable, but the author is caught into the same problem that he sees other in. Something that was safe, or at least benign is now actively harmful. It’s hard to wrap your head around that kind of change.

Is Canada going to build the independence that it needs to truly stand alone from then up to the US as this continues.

When Mexico is invaded, what will the reaction be?
