So here’s the thing, every time I try to move away from Facebook messenger I run into the same problem, nobody else in my friends or family actually want to use a secure, private messenger app like signal or telegram, my wife, my parents, my in-laws, my friends they’re ALL on Facebook and they will never take signal seriously enough to actually use it, it really bums me out that there are these far superior options but without anyone else using them they’re pointless…
Anyway what apps do you use to stay in touch with people?
I’m using Element One (https://element.io/element-one). It’s a paid Matrix hosting, that provides bridges to Signal, Telegram and WhatsApp. It means that I don’t have to care so much what people are on, and can try and get them slowly migrated.
No bridge to Facebook messenger?
There is a Matrix to FB messenger bridge, but it isn’t part of the Element One service unfortunately. You’d have to host Matrix yourself for that.
I’ve noticed beeper advertises that they support Facebook messenger (among others) this could be good
Yeah, I need to have a look a Beeper. Worth knowing (if you didn’t already) that it’s exactly the same thing under the hood - it uses the Matrix bridges.
