    I’ve seen turmeric being used in some wheat noodles to make them more yellow (like egg noodles).

    Something like this would not be allowed if food dyes were universally banned, even though it’s harmless (or maybe even somewhat beneficial because vegan noodles cause fewer CO2 emissions than egg noodles so them being more appealing is good).

    But you’re right, food dyes should definitely be restricted, especially for unhealthy/ultraprocessed foods. Same with packaging to some extent - the only reason candy looks like a unicorn vomited everywhere is because children are targeted.
