I guess so? It doesn’t make the comment any less appropriate just because it’s unpopular in this particular context.

Besides which, surely even 3d printing enthusiasts can discern between single use plastics like wraps and baggies vs reusable tools & objects made out of plastics.

I think you’re right to complain, but at the same time, aren’t single use plastics much lower on the pollution scale than, say, the fishing industry or other industrial plastic pollution? It makes sense to reduce and reuse, I try - but also find it beyond helpful to have a bunch of (unorganized) baggies strewn about for things like loose screws, storing filament spools, organizing USB cables, etc. I could definitely use something like this instead of a black hole under my sink. I know it’s easy to judge – esp without the whole picture – and hopefully people aren’t polluting willy nilly, but curiosity is a better approach than judgment or shaming when it comes to changing minds, wouldn’t you agree?

I just found it funny to complain about plastic use in a community where everyone is making plastic things. Seemed kind of ironic to me. Like, every spool you buy comes in a huge single use plastic bag. I feel like if you were THAT concerned about it, you wouldn’t be 3D printing in the first place.

I agree with you about the approach. Feels like people just love to judge. We all balance things in our own way. I very rarely use those bags; I put my leftovers in reusable containers, but I have them for the occasional need and I like to organize. And of course, it’s not needed, but 3D printing isn’t really needed in most cases either.
