Some time ago, I got really interested in Monero, and it still continues to amaze me to this day. I have even been hosting my own node to support the network for almost a year now. The thing is, during all this time, my wallet balance has been sitting at 0.0 simply because I don’t find a good reason to use Monero. I can’t use it to pay friends because they don’t use it. I don’t buy much stuff, just groceries at the local market, where, of course, they only take fiat, and I don’t want to buy things I don’t need just to use the coin.

My question is, should I buy some just for the sake of having it? I am not looking forward to speculating, so I don’t find any reason to do that either.

I am really just looking for some opinions, so any replies will be appreciated.

    I’ve been collecting some:

    • To support the project
    • In the hopes that XMR one day will become the mainstream currency, in which case early bought coins will likely be worth more.
    • To protect myself against FIAT, which will eventually lead to hyper inflation, due to deficit spending and fractional banking. However I diversify my portfolio, it’s not smart to put all your eggs in 1 basket. Only a small percentage of it goes into crypto.
