I am the older male head of household.

Edit: It’s over now. Thank you all for your kindness. It has definitely helped me.

Can you sneak out to a car to recharge your social batteries for a bit? This is my go to.

I made it to halftime. Retreating to my room to read, and then maybe even sleep. I’m completely exhausted from this, I might even cry a bit, I don’t know. Overwhelmed.

I’m not a baby, I just have problems with some things other people find easy. I’ve done some really hard stuff and raised a bunch of kids to be kind adults and I’m not ashamed of my life, but I’m embarrassed whenever this kind of thing happens.

      I wish I wasn’t this way.

Fuck the haters. Leaving a social gathering you don’t want to be at should be normal, nothing bad is going to happen bevause you left early. Even making it to halftime is a courtesy really, people should thank you for being considerate for staying that long rather than criticize you for leaving when it got too much. So, good job, you probably made your family and visitors happy by being there at all. You deserve your rest afterwards.

Don’t let anyone tell you you’re a baby or whatever over this. If anything those people seem more immature to me for not realizing that different people struggle with different things.
