    Problem is that games used to be at least sort of cheap and not take terribly long to “tax” the limits of a game system. Now, it’s a lot more investment in order to hit that limit on a game system, but if they aren’t hitting that limit, what was the point of even buying a newer system?

    So now game devs shooting for a PS5 release may have to sink massive amounts of time and money and advertising into a game, and just hope everything goes well and the public likes it.

    Well back when a AAA game cost a couple million bucks and 9 months of work, risk and experimentation was kind of safe. Now that it’s a team of 150 people and fifty million dollars over the course of 3 years they’re a lot less willing to take risks. They’re also less willing to make a game that won’t go to the maximum amount of potential buyers.

    So pc comes in. Devs can do whatever they want. Wireless controls like ps5’s and xbox’ can work just the same as console. Modding can be done. Games can be released on all available gaming platforms, and there’s no bs about needing to keep an old system around to play your old favorite games. You can even just plug the pc up to the big screen and play in your living room.

    Consoles have always just been a stop-gap until pcs got easy enough to the masses to act as one.
