It’s cool but I’ve noticed that it seems like non-valve devices aren’t adding back buttons like the steam deck; however for me they’re so useful I can’t imagine a deck device without them. Anyone know why?
I think there’s some patent fuckery going on with that. Scuf Gaming owns a patent on controllers with back paddles, which caused the original steam controller to be taken off the market. From what I just googled, Valve later filled an appeal which they won, but I’d bet other companies are not willing to take the risk, especially smaller companies

Probably additional expense/complication. Especially if they’re using pre-existing boards and parts.
