Hello, I’ve been receiving this notice from voyager and wanted to hesr your thoughts. I don’t understand the tech side of this at all. But, I’m curious if you have plans to update, or if I should find a new client to view beehaw. Thanks!

Damn, voyager is a big reason I’m even on lemmy. Guess I’ll have to find a replacement or something.

Heartbreaking, Voyager just keeps getting better and better, and has the best UI of any Lemmy client by a wide mile 😭

Trying to figure out if it’s possible to run an older version of a PWA, skirt the problem that way, but not holding my breath. I’ll be siding with BeeHaw here, don’t really have a use for the software if there’s no community to access 😓

Are there any good alternatives for iOS? If I could keep it at this version and never update that’d be fine too, that’s how I used Alien Blue when it was discontinued

I’m on Android myself, so not sure about is iOS options 😞

Just installed Raccoon, and already pleasantly surprised, swiping so far looks identical to Voyager - I’m going to explore a bit more 😊

I use jerboa so I’m not affected afaik but I’m curious why the uncertainty about update, they are (generally) a good thing for performance and security. Have there been issues before?

The 0.19.0 release was horrendous and completely broke a lot of things. Again. It wasn’t the first significant breakage on a feature release. It happened before.

0.19.1 attempted to fix things, but didn’t. Now we’re on 0.19.2, which at least isn’t completely broken anymore.

It’s certainly, evidently not only about or for performance and security.

I can’t say anything about the current state though, or why beehaw administration decides against it. Other instances I am using are on more recent 0.19 and work fine.

I just moved to Thunder and it seems pretty cool, but a different layout from what I’m used to with Voyager. I might give Eternity a try, too, but this one looks good.

UPDATE: Raccoon it is. I gave Thunder a try, but figured I’d also try Raccoon and Eternity. Raccoon just feels right.

FWIW I have the Voyager PWA installed on my phone and despite daily messages that support ended two days ago, I can still browse Lemmy. I don’t plan on updating, in case that is what finally breaks it.

edit: as of March 22, Voyager stopped showing me content on any server with 18.x software, including my login credentials, which I can only assume means it is useless for browsing Lemmy. Edited with Memmy on iOS.
