The sanctions are working really well when seen from the perspective of ensuring that Europe isn’t allowed to have independent economic development. There was a serious threat to US economic dominance over Europe due to increasing integration with the east. Cheap Russian energy allowed German industry to stay competitive, and Russia was a big market for European companies. Now both these problems have been solved.
