    Taxing vehicles by weight is an interesting solution. I feel like it’d have to be non-linear, though. Start at like 0 tax owed at 2500 pounds and go up from there.

      And would need an exception for the people who actuality need a big truck.

          Agree. How much do they actually need it? If it’s a real need they can pay for the extra costs borne by the infrastructure.

      While I agree in principle, this does pose a problem for electric vehicles with their heavy battery packs.

      Road taxes where I live (Netherlands) are already based on the car weight and also on type of fuel. Electric cars are exempt from road taxes, for now.
