This was one of my most prized possessions as a kid—right up until my sister stole it and traded it for a Cheese String at school.

Wanted on desperately but my parents said it was too expensive. I now suspect they thought I would be annoying with it.

This and one of those tiny portable tube tvs were my biggest purchasing ambitions.

Oh my God, yes those tiny TVs were the pinnacle of cool. It truly felt like you could be some sort of spy with all this cool tech.

When I was a kid I had one of those. My parents bought it from a TV repair store. It was a combination 6" TV, audio tape player, and am/fm radio.

It was about 2 feet by 2 feet and about 8 inches thick. It weighed about 20 pounds. It has a carry handle though so I guess it was “portable”…

They had even smaller ones, too. I remember seeing them in the Sears catalog.

I remember them looking sort of like this:

        portable tv

I had a handheld one, and it was even in color. Got it from radio shack for Christmas one year.

Took me a long time to get one of those tvs from radio shack. Finally got one for Christmas and it was awesome, until it got stolen :-(

Only had it for like a month. I remember watching the simpsons on it.
