But ranchers in Montana have long opposed increasing the Yellowstone herds or transferring the animals to tribes. Republican Gov. Greg Gianforte has said he would not support any management plan with a population target greater than 3,000 Yellowstone bison.

That’s interesting because I have long opposed any increase to the population of white people in Montana.

i have a deep hatred for cattle ranching and the people that do it. cattle grazing is incredibly destructive alone, not including the elimination of predator species like wolves that wrought havoc on Yellowstone. all so Americans can eat an unholy amount of beef

Bison have been an integral part of Native American cultures. Settlers killed as many bison as they could in an attempt to starve the natives and destroy their culture. In many regards, native American’s acted as the Bison’s natural predator, because their culture is so heavily intertwined with nature. Settlers stole that from them. So it’s not as simple as “cattle grazing” it’s a colonized people’s way of protecting their culture

They’re mad about the colonizers’ cattle-grazing taking land and resources away from the colonizees’ potential bison-grazing land. Cattle is the specific name for the animal beef comes from, it’s not an umbrella term for anything that grazes.
