I googled this issue but only got a couple of Reddit posts from a year ago with no real answer. Does anybody here know what’s going on with beta client updates on the stable update channel?

Same thing happened to me, but I only remember it happening when I was on Bazzite. Are you running something that’s not SteamOS?

    So, that particular problem was fixed for me when I went back to SteamOS from Bazzite, which required me to reimage the entire device.
    
    Thus, my two suggestions are:
    
    Download the SteamOS recovery image and reinstall SteamOS.
    
    Use the recovery image to reimage the entire Deck (factory wipe).
