Incredibly sad that it failed.
Worst part - it actually succeeded, temporarily. The Islamists declared that they DEFINITELY weren’t ever going to mandate wearing the veil in public. Then, a few years later, when they crushed the left-wing opposition completely, they mandated wearing the veil.
Sounds familiar… Something about Roe v Wade. Or maybe every merger on whether prices will go up if the merger is allowed.
The right-wing is psychotically relentless. You cannot give them the keys to the nation and expect them to return them with the entrances uncompromised, then they will take what they want through the side door, and it is always more, more, more. Before you know it, they will be squatting inside and barricaded the front door.
Because every few years they manage to divide-and-conquer enough people to keep the goddamned door open for them.
