I, being someone who works with computers, have had some luck with most of my favorite subs being here already.

Despite that, some of my hobby ones still aren’t here. NFL exists, but it’s the same as nothing so far. Soccer I couldn’t find at first, maybe today it already does? Also, no sign of fantasy football.

I also followed a bunch of History subs, but looks like most people in Lemmy only care about science and technology.

Tell us, what is missing for you?

Yes but there’s only 7 subscribers and I’m the only post :(

Then again it’s a niche community about a fantasy series, I’m not surprised it doesn’t have much going on yet.

See my reply for a clickable link that should work on any instance. I haven’t tested in Jerboa yet. Let me know if it works.

Jerboa is still trying to open it outside of the app for some reason. It’s a different 404 page than last time so some might call it progress.

Edit. Tried the link again and got a 502 bad gateway error

I tried to search for the community from lemmy.ca (that’s the instance you’re on right?) and couldn’t find it. Perhaps lemmy.ca can’t see the community yet. I don’t know. I still don’t know how all this federated stuff works yet, I’ve only been here a couple of days.

Looks like perhaps Jerboa doesn’t have a way to link to communities in a universal way like the website does. Shame, but I’m sure it will come.

I’m going through my backlog rn, recently picked reading back up after college killed my voracious appetite. Currently working through my very first few WH40K books, after that I’ll probably read Dune. I’ve heard good stuff about WoT, how is it? I’ve read some fantasy staples but I’d be lying if I said I was a connoisseur. I just know my teachers in school didn’t like the author.

It’s my favorite fantasy series. I highly recommend it if you like modern fantasy; you’ll notice that a lot of stuff written in the last 20 years is often heavily influenced by it. It’s also complete, so you don’t need to wait for more books to come out

The hardest part with it, frankly, is that book 1 feels very different from the others because the author hadn’t quite gotten his feet under him. It’s also extremely long at 14 total books, each one over 700 pages. But I think it’s well worth it.

WoT fans love the series and can make fun of some of the styling.

WoT detractors have obviously read the series judging by their criticism.

It’s kinda addictive. When it’s good, it’s great. When it’s bad, it’s tolerable.

You really want to know what happens next…and at least you’re not starting it before it has been finished. You didn’t want to live through THOSE years.

Overall, I’m a fan. Its a LOT lighter than Dune, which I also like, but for different reasons.
