Is it okay to touch these if I find them? Not eat but just touch with my fingers. I want to know if they feel how I think they feel.

Haha I totally get that. It’s fine really, you need to ingest some part of all mushrooms that I know of, at least here where I am, to actually get poisoned. Still, it’s probably a good idea to be somewhat aware of what you do with your hands afterwards. But that’s just general good advice when touching stuff you don’t know about I guess ;)

My parents taught me not to touch them anyway because I might stick my fingers in my mouth later, and some mushrooms are very poisonous.

I guess I haven’t updated my mushroom/mold policy in the decades that followed.

For a child, or pet, it is probably good advice, especially because extremely amounts of toxin can be transferred through your pores and they are potentially more affected. rashes, itching, nausea, eye irritation are possible in those cases, but even with the craziest mushrooms, cases are extremely rare. I’ve picked up the death cap with my bare hands, and yet I type this.

Might also taste like nothing much but still make you vomit. I do wonder what it feels like when you’d eat it though…
