The husband, if we are to judge by the story, is used to her throwing a tantrum and then cooling off, which will likely be the case here again. His entire demeanour which she describes throughout the text is just waiting for her to calm down like she is a sulking child, which she sees as deep empathy. The only concession he made was not forcing her to go to the Christmas celebration (for now), bringing her a cup of coffee and saying sorry (while not doing the actual thing she asked).
I have seen more robust and convincing compassion from sociopaths who knew I knew they were sociopaths who knew I knew they hated me.

I’m glad you know so much about my life and how the government i don’t control affects my life. I’m aware of the terrible things we’ve done abroad and i didn’t negate that, but it doesn’t erase the harm that most of our population also experiences. especially if you are multiple minorities like me.
