    This made me wonder about abstract art… Maybe it leaves it to the viewer to decide what they see, rather than the more straightforward “smiling person = happy painting”?

      True but that is also true with traditional art is it not? Is she smiling, is she not? Art is always up to interpretation. But I agree fully that abstract art actually requires you to actually think as an individual. Traditional art sort of guides you to a general idea but this art requires actual ideas to form on your own. I hadn’t thought about this much tbh.

      Hope that makes sense and doesn’t seem confrontational I’ve had a few glasses of wine and tend to ramble in that state lol.

        Makes sense, especially for the Mona Lisa. It’s up for interpretation but not in the same way that abstract art is.
