Since when does directing the best picture of the year (2000) not count as an Oscar win?
Directors get the Oscar for… Best Director. Best Picture goes to the producers.
Ridley’s output has been very meh in recent years. Tony Scott was the better Scott.
Unnecessary comment given we benefitted greatly from both as consumers
Too bad Gladiator 2 was a bunch of bizarre logical lapses so that certain plot points can happen. Also such bad CGI these days. Really pales in comparison to the original.
He should have got Best Director for Alien and Blade Runner.
He isn’t going to win one any time soon on his current form - he’s not doing great work raking over the ashes of his past successes and his original films have flatlined. Going by recent films he could do well with a two Hour film that is one long battle with no human drama to mess it up for him.
