Google has updated its policy around Android OS updates on its first two generations of Tensor-powered Pixel devices, bringing two…
starting from when the device first became available on the Google Store in the US
Why don’t they just list the date (or even the ‘available on store’ date) for each device? It would be a lot simpler for people instead of having to hunt for the info themselves
I went to check as I remember that Google Support had a handy table with dates, but they seemingly removed it in favor of this stupid wording 🙄
Maybe the management hasn’t decided on the exact promises they’re willing to make? Also there’s two years left before it becomes important, while previously there was always a generation going out of support within a year.
So does that mean 5 years from release for pixel 7?
Since availability on the Google Store, so yes.
As GrapheneOS team had predicted
As a Grapehene user, increasing the security updates would’ve been great but I suppose that the existing 5 years will do just fine.
Nice!
Good news, although I’ve been holding off on updating to 15 as, last I heard, it was causing issues with Pixel 6 Pros. Not sure if that’s been solved yet, need to go have a look.
