Interested in recommended reading on or around Finance or Investment ?

I am currently reading “Fooled by Randomness” by Nassim Taleb and am finding it fantastic

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fooled_by_Randomness

I came to it from a Howard Marks YT lecture where he referred to it and thought more and thought there might be suggestions here ?

I have a bunch of books by John Kenneth Galbraith i plan to get to and have read Peter Lynch, Buffett, Munger etal

Joe Walker Podcast (spotify) did a really interesting interview with Nassim Taleb.

I think you’d like Debt by David Graeber. When i first listened to it, it blew my mind, everytime i’ve listened to or read it since i’ve found more understanding.

The Consequences of the Peace by Keynes. That Bloomsbury playa predicted ALL of IT in that book.

Currently i’m getting into Mariana Mazzucato. Starting with Mission Economy. Its topical in Australia now because apparently her work has influenced the Treasurer’s thinking.

How Asia Works by Joe Studwell is super interesting as well. What a trip South and East Asia have been on!

The book i wish was more impactful on people’s minds than it has been is, Poor Economics by Duflo, and Banerjee. They cut to shreds the rich world idea, that the poor are poor by dint of their own, so called, ‘poor’ choices. They are very honest in their delivery.

A lot of these aren’t straight econ or finance though i suppose. They play around the edges and use the events the respective books are about to communicate the ideas. But i find that more interesting than more out of a context, assumption driven economic theory texts.

I just reread your post and realised your specifically looking for finance. I think i just saw Galbraith and thought economics. Sorry my recommendations probably missed the mark.

I am a Graeber afficanado so I’ve read the brilliant Debt, link here for others interested

        https://archive.org/details/DebtTheFirst5000Years/page/5/mode/1up

        and other books of his.

I was quite upset when be passed :( I came to him from the original publishing of his article Bullshit Jobs that he then reworked into a book.

Galbriath is recommended by the likes of Charlie Munger, Howard Marks etal and even Taleb himself in his book, all three being rightfully despairaging of economists but he’s on my list for that reason and has been for a long time, it’s a looooonnnng list of unread books :(.

Thank you for taking the time
