Zimbabwe has officially abolished the death penalty after President Emmerson Mnangagwa signed into law a bill on Tuesday which will commute sentences of around 60 prisoners on death row to jail time.

        Fun fact; Rhodesia, the predecessor state to both Zimbabwe and Zambia (~1899-1980), had abolished the death sentence back in 1968! If you ever get to visit, check out the Zambezi River, which divides the two. One of the most beautiful rivers in the world.
