‘Thank you, thank you. As you know I’ve suffered for my art’
Congratulations! He represents two things I love very much … Star Trek and Ireland. He is also someone that represents a generation as we’ve seen him and grown familiar with him through so many appearances in TV and movies over the years.
His imdb page is suprisingly prolific https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0000538/ 151 roles since 1973 is a pretty damn good run.
I loved him in Layer Cake where he plays the opposite of Miles O’Brien.
I first saw him in Hell on Wheels.
The first thing I ever saw him in was “Intermission”, so you can imagine my shock upon discovering him on Trek a couple years ago.
First time I saw him outside Star Trek was in a Scarlett O’Hara TV miniseries.
Imagine my surprise when he’s driving her around in a horse and buggy: an olde time transporter chief!
That was such a good movie. I must give it a rewatch.
i was so excited he was set as charlies dad in sunny. it was perfect
The cheese mongrel
Really liked him in Hell on Wheels. Surprisingly believable as Thomas Durant.
This was my introduction to him!
My favourite role of his (outside of Trek) is as the Elvis-loving dad in The Commitments.
Call him ‘Daddy’. Everyone calls him Daddy.
It’s about time!
More than deserved!
Oh no! You can’t break the laws of physic; O’Brien MUST suffer! Take it away before the universe suffers a subspace quasar tachyon inversion burst collapse to the hull or something. 😉
