Trans is an umbrella term as used in the meme you commented under. Non binary people fall under that umbrella and trans definitely is not short for transitioning. You should definitely not comment on trans vocabulary if you clearly aren’t knowledgeable on it as it harms our community.
Actually, trans is like 0.1% of the total population, so that sliver of trans people who say that should much tinier.

Trans is short for transgender. Being transgender is not identifying with the gender assigned at birth, so I don’t see the issue with the foreword.
