An additional executive order meant to “protect the United States from foreign terrorists and other national security and public threats” is undeniably meant to apply to pro-Palestinian protesters across America, particularly on college campuses.

You do realize the genocide is (for now) over right? Like there’s literally a ceasefire going on. Trump overturning Biden’s posturing is… Well, it’s not good but making this your “told you so” moment is just silly.
Wrong. Genocide is not bombing people, it’s killing a people through a variety of means, including displacement. The expanding West Bank settlements Trump supports are also genocide.
True enough, but what is Trump doing and what did he do in the past to materially support these settlements? Alternatively, what did Biden do to materially impede their expansion? Differences in rhetoric don’t matter to the Palestinians being expelled from their homes. And please don’t respond with Biden’s executive order that sanctioned a total of four people.
The Trump administration actually broke with decades of U.S. policy by declaring that Israeli settlements in the West Bank were not inconsistent with international law, effectively endorsing Israeli claims to parts of the territory. Significantly reduced U.S. financial assistance to Palestinians, including ending funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency and recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and moved its embassy there to undermine the Palestinians (Adelson spent $20m for this)
His window, a megadonor for settlement development in the West Bank donated 100m to Trump with her stated goals being Israeli annexation of the West Bank and a U.S. recognition of Israeli sovereignty in all the regions of the land. Trumps #1 donor above Musk.
This was part of the deal that stopped the right wing factions in the Israeli govt from blocking the ceasefire. Are they the worse of two evils? Or is the fact that you’re aligned with them escaping you?
“for now” is really doing some heavy lifting there
Netanyahu says Israel ‘reserves right to resume war’ and calls first phase a ‘temporary ceasefire’
but also, even if the ceasefire was permanent, that doesn’t mean the genocide stops.
if you bomb a bunch of hospitals, and then agree to a ceasefire, the hospitals don’t magically come back into existence.
ditto water treatment plants and similar infrastructure. Diseases spread in Gaza as sewage contaminates camps and coast
a ceasefire means that the “dropped a bomb on a refugee camp” aspect of the genocide stops. the “there’s a refugee camp with a never-ending stream of needless and preventable deaths” aspect of the genocide will continue unabated.
I mean yes, but what is Trump going to do to exacerbate that that Biden wasn’t and Harris wasn’t going to? America was simply never going to become a source of positive change in this conflict, so if anything Trump’s isolationist tendencies work in Palestinians’ favor, and otherwise he’s neutral compared to Biden/Harris.
I don’t even know where to begin peeling the onion of how incredibly stupid this statement is.
Okay I’ll bite: What did Trump do in his first term that had a material negative impact on Palestine that wasn’t just regular US foreign policy?
The ceasefire was broken by Israeli reservists shooting Palestinians, within a day.
Now it’s just Israelis pot-shotting gazans and begging them to lob a stone.
I don’t think anyone was expecting Israel to actually abide by the ceasefire, but as long as there are no gross violations Gazans can get some measure of peace that they notably didn’t get under Biden.
