There is a particular car I wanted to get, but it isn’t available on usenet. How do I go about adding it? I have subscriptions to an indexer and provider.

Some indexers get their content automatically from Usenet boards, where users upload their nzbs for other users to manually download.

    • Make sure you’re anonymous. I.e. you’re always using a trusted no-log VPN provider while connecting to your Usenet provider, Usenet Board, and email provider.
    • The email provider also shouldn’t know any of your real information (e.g. don’t add a recovery email with your name attached). If you use a good private email service like protonmail, this shouldn’t be as important as the following.
    • Pay with anonymous cryptocurrencies like Monero. Pay directly from your own local wallet, not from the exchange account which has your name attached. (BTC is not anonymous, unless you know what you’re doing.)

This is important as Usenet provider do follow DMCA and local laws, so they could be forced to give out any information they have on you.

Thank you! This is great feedback. How does one create an nzb? FWIW it’s a relatively obscure movie available on YT. I’m not terribly worried about lawsuits, but figured it was a good time to learn best practices.

Here’s a comparison of Usenet uploading tools [1]. If your comfortable with cli nyuu is likely your best bet, otherwise ngPost has a GUI.

If you don’t obfuscate the files (i.e. don’t rename the files to some random string, and keep the file title), your upload should be able to found by usenet search engines like binsearch.info and other Usenet indexer might pick it up too.

If you obfuscate it the only way to find the files is the nzb you created and it’ll have to be added to a usenet board/indexer.
