The Vietnam National Assembly on Wednesday gave a near-unanimous approval to a railway bill that allows the country to utilize Chinese loans for the construction of a new $8.3 billion link aimed at improving transport connections between the two neighboring countries.

The US really fucked its soft power plans with trump. When trump is eventually gone (peaceful or not) and the world takes a look around it will be interesting to see how much can happen without the US being involved.

This is quite unrelated to Trump though I think? China has been offering these kinds of deals for a very long time. Relations with Sweden were severely soured a while back in part due to denial of some railway infrastructure deal (was denied due to national security reasons IIRC).

        It’s definitely unrelated to Trump.

China has been eating the US’ lunch when it comes to these initiatives.

Thats what i meant tho. China has been on top of their game before trump already. Now that the US stopped all their USAID stuff and other funding, china has no competition at all.

That’d be fucking terrible. China loves giving out loans countries can’t pay.
