The thrill of flying a 747 in flight simulator quickly wears off when you realise large planes are really fucking dull.

After takeoff you turn on autopilot and there’s fuck all to do for the next few hours apart from occasionally twisting the heading knob, or setting up the ILS approach for the landing.

It may actually liven the experience up if you have to deal with passenger complaints when you mistakenly over prescribe alcohol. You need to give the passengers enough to get them lethargic but not so much they reach the angry or depressed stage.

Fly NYC to Paris. Be the pilot with lowest seniority, have to take the first break. Enjoy your 1.5 hour nap. Get back in the cockpit for another 5 hours. ‘relax’ in Paris for 26 hours by going out with the flight attendants. Be dead tired, but chug enough coffee to feel somewhat alive. Get first break again, but way too caffeinated to sleep. Land back in NYC 40 hours after leaving. Drive home on 6 hours of sleep in the last 3 days.

Friends dad is a pilot. Get paid insane money, but crazy lifestyle.

I only do 500NM flights so that I’m not sitting on autopilot forever. Flights are around 1h and I open up browser tabs and do other tasks like video editing or researching or watching a show.
