    US military doctrine is (and has been since the 50s) that we should be capable of independently being at war with our 2 largest rivals. That’s currently Russia and China, but the way India is advancing their military, they’ll take over for Russia soon.

      India is not US adversary. It also has no homegrown military industry.

        They’re a BRICKS nation that launched their first home built aircraft carrier and they’ve started building another. They’ve also been demonstrating all summer how much cheaper their ICBMs are than ours.

        @dingleberry @Bishma least credible comment. It is very shit but they do have a home industry, propped up by technology exchange with both the west and russia. Bad rifles, questionnable MBTs, overweight fighters, you name it they build it. Although the stuff strictly built under licence like the scorpene is actually decent.
