After a bit more than 2 weeks of beta bug fixing and development, the first variant of Shattered’s new caves quest is finally online! This quest variant places the hero in a cave sub-region full of fragile crystals and tougher crystalline enemies. Watch your step, as some enemies will only attack you once disturbed…
The new quest scoring system and rewards are also available, so make sure to get lots of gold if you want some of the new loot! I expect to get the other two quest variants working over the next few weeks. The exact mechanics and visuals are still a bit of a work in progress, so please let me know what you think!
It’s exciting to have a new quest. I’ve tried it a couple of times now. The first time I used loads of health potions. The second time I was better at avoiding the guardians by running away a lot but that meant I used a lot of food, so maybe we need more food down there, or a freeze on hunger while you’re on that level. I haven’t managed to kill the boss yet as worried about using too many resources.
It’s intended that mining has a hunger cost. The best way to avoid the guardians is to not wake them, be careful when you’re mining through walls-crystal nearby to them.
