JVG is mostly good for games that don’t matter, where his weird tangents are entertaining instead of distracting. But ESPN is sorely mistaken if they think letting him go instead of Mark Jackson will be an improvement.

On the other hand, I would love for TNT to pick him up and just give the Van Gundy brothers a game a month to just go nuts during. Maybe they can test out an AI play-by-play for those games.

This is not upsetting in the slightest, although I wish they would also get rid of Mark Jackson. Mike Breen is great, but watching any playoff game with the whole trio was not enjoyable. ESPN needs to get some real talent to help Mike out.

I’m sure not everyone is a fan of his, but I always felt he was unbiased, honest in his opinion, didn’t hold back and called it like he saw it.

ESPN continues it’s downward spiral, as it should.

I liked JVG but he was super biased lol. That was part of the fun though. JVG paired with a competent commentator is great. Can’t believe they got rid of him instead of Mark Jackson. Was kinda hoping he got a coaching gig somewhere but I guess being “let go” doesn’t imply that.

Mark Jackson and Jeff Van Gundy almost single handedly ruined the entire NBA playoffs for me. I literally couldn’t stand them the entire time. Unbiased? I’m not sure if we’re talking about the same person.

Screw you ingrates! I’m going to start my own network, with blackjack, and hookers! Seriously though, I wouldn’t be surprised to see JVG and several other former ESPN personalities end up on Fox Sports, NBC or whoever wins the upcoming battle for the league’s TV rights. Personally I’d like to see NBC get them again, since they’d likely bring back Bob Costas and their Sunday NFL offering has been very solid since they started doing football again.

I’ll never forget listening to Mike Breen plead with JVG that being 38 is indeed old and LeBron should rest. Lol.

Honestly glad JVG is gone. Some of his takes were too much.

Sportscenter with Jeff Van Gundy was the only thing other than PTI that I still watched on ESPN. I hope someone else picks him up for a similar show.

He was always terrible. He and Mark Jackson are perfect examples of people who, the more they talk, the more it’s obvious why they aren’t coaches anymore.
