would that not just require you to go through the voobly process for the original version of aoe2? https://reddit.com/r/aoe2/comments/2zyogr/how_to_playing_aoe_ii_on_voobly_on_linux_with_wine/

its basically what aoe2 users did before DE, as aoe2hd was a bad modernized port.
